Czech Republic (Hluboká Castle) - Steve

Hluboká Castle is located on a hill above the river Vltava, about 10 km north of town České Budějovice. In the 13th century, Fronburg Castle was built on the site of today's castle. At the end of the 15th century, it was replaced by a Gothic castle, which was later rebuild in the Baroque style. At the beginning of the 19th century, the castle was torn down and a new castle in the romantic style was built in its place. The new buildings, which still stand today, were built in the Tudor Gothic style, modeled after the English Royal Castle of Windsor. The walls and ceilings of the interiors are richly decorated with wood carvings, gold, leather and textile wallpapers and Brussels tapestries. The castle is surrounded by an English park and is one of the most attractive sights for tourists in the Czech Republic.
